While You Waited for Clarity, We Built

What I told the Blockchain Futurist Conference in Toronto: retail crypto adoption just hit a nine-year low because the industry stopped having a conversation normal people can join. TEXITcoin built the mine, the community, and now NectarPay — 11,000 zero-fee, non-custodial terminals rolling out across the USA.

Founder, TEXITcoin

Six months ago I stopped sleeping in my own bed.

Not because anything went wrong with the project. Because something went very right, and the machinery that Bitcoin was built to route around noticed. TEXITcoin got a cease and desist from the Texas State Securities Board. We have our day in court next month. Everything about that fight is public — the filings, the responses, the exhibits — and you can read all of it on our legal page.

I flew to Toronto to say this out loud to a room full of people who build in this industry, at the Blockchain Futurist Conference. Watch the talk here. Here's the short version of what I told them.

We have no one to blame but ourselves

Most crypto projects lurk. They keep quiet, they don't rock the boat, they're careful not to irritate the banks who can yank their rails on a Tuesday afternoon for no stated reason.

We did the opposite of that, loudly, for two years.

A hundred wrapped cars — the most in crypto. A 45-foot wrapped RV that rolled into Miami for the crypto polo cup. A hot air balloon. Airport takeovers in Dallas, Houston, LAX, Orlando, and Miami, running for months. More than 300 billboards across the country. An official TEXITcoin baby, and at least three babies total that exist because of a community this project built.

We crowdsourced $150 million and used it to build the tenth largest LTC/DOGE mine in the world, in Texas, so our coins come out of the ground instead of off an order book. We paid every commission we owed to the people who helped build a 50,000-person mining community. We carried the message from one side of the planet to the other.

So no, I'm not confused about why we drew attention. When you're that visible about disrupting an industry, the industry looks back.

The number nobody in that room wanted to hear

A report landed the other day that explains why almost nobody outside a crypto conference cares what happens inside one.

Retail crypto adoption just hit a nine-year low.

Nine years. Sit with that. Fifteen years of infrastructure, trillions in market cap, an ETF for everything, and normal people are less involved than they were in 2017.

Here's the uncomfortable part. Nine years ago is also roughly when a wave of large scams collapsed. Those operations were, in the end, frauds. But they had one thing that this industry has completely abandoned: a plan to bring in new human beings, and a conversation that a normal person could actually follow.

Try this. Walk into an H-E-B and explain a DeFi perps market to the person in line behind you. Explain a Web3 prediction bot. Explain a memecoin, honestly, without flinching. Watch their face.

Now ask who the number one crypto payment processor is. That's BitPay. Ask how many transactions they process per month, by their own numbers: around 6,600. After fifteen years. That's roughly 220 a day — about one per country. Visa and Mastercard clear on the order of 900 million a day.

We wonder why adoption died. It died because the industry stopped having a conversation ordinary people can join, and stopped teaching anyone how to have it.

TEXITcoin has a plan, and TEXITcoin is not a scam

We've been under the microscope of the SEC and the TSSB for more than five months. Five months of examination, and here's the complete list of what they found: no arrests, no seized property, no missing money.

We are not a memecoin. Not a rug pull. Not a pump and dump. Not a pyramid. Not a Ponzi. Very few of the names people threw around in the last cycle can survive that sentence with a straight face. We can, and we've had regulators checking our work.

We're still here. Bigger, cashed up, and ready to win.

While you waited for clarity, we built

That's the part I actually went to Canada to say.

We built a mine. We built a community that knows how to onboard retail users — the single hardest problem in this industry, and the one nobody wants to work on because it's slow and unglamorous and involves talking to people who don't already agree with you. We had an enormous amount of fun doing it. We crowdsourced $150 million, and most of it is still here, doing work.

We finished the chapter this industry started in 2012, back when it still cared about Bitcoin's original mission: decentralized, peer-to-peer digital money that people use.

Announcing NectarPay

So here's the announcement I made from that stage.

NectarPay is live: a non-custodial, zero-fee crypto payment gateway, and we are placing terminals in businesses starting now. Between now and Token2049 we'll roll out 11,000 crypto point-of-sale terminals to businesses across the United States. Most of the first wave lands in Dallas.

Non-custodial means the merchant holds their own money — we never touch it. No fee means the 2 to 3 percent that quietly eats a small business's margin goes back to the small business. Instant settlement, no chargeback risk, a loyalty hook that brings customers back, and new foot traffic from a community that actively looks for places to spend.

That's not a whitepaper. That's a box on a counter, and a merchant who keeps more of what they earn.

If you know how to sell, there's real money in onboarding merchants to this. Come find us.

We're done playing nice

For a long time our posture was reasonable, cooperative, careful. We answered every question. We filed everything. We put our documents on IPFS so anyone can audit us, including the people trying to shut us down.

We'll keep doing all of that. What we're finished with is apologizing for building something that works.

We are not going to be quieter because loud made us a target. We are not going to slow down the merchant rollout because someone finds it inconvenient. We are not going to pretend that a nine-year low in retail adoption is somebody else's problem while we sit on the answer.

TEXITcoin is mined in Texas and admired all over the planet. The world needs honest money — more truth, more authenticity, more transparency, and fewer intermediaries taking a cut for permission they never earned. We're going to keep spreading the message of peace and prosperity through honest money whether the industry likes it or not.

The time machine

We started at 2.8 cents. We briefly touched a third of a billion dollars in value last September. We're CMC verified now and pointed at page one.

Here's the question I left that room with.

If you could go back to when Bitcoin was 25 cents, how much would you buy?

We built a Bitcoin time machine. Check out TXC and act accordingly.

Stop talking about honest money. Be the monetary change you want to see in the world.
